Protect Your Glass: Mobile Windshield Replacement Basics

Seek A Repair From A Mobile Technician And Preserve The Condition Of A New Windshield

by Clifford Patterson

Heavy branches or a slab of ice that has fallen onto your truck's windshield could result in a crack that could affect your ability to drive safely. If the crack is narrow and short in length, you can attempt to repair it with an epoxy filler. If the crack is wide and covers most of the windshield, it is in your best interest to have the windshield replaced.

You May Not Be Required To Pay

You may be dreading the thought of forking out money for damage that you were not responsible for. Windshield repairs and replacements may be covered through your automotive insurance policy.

Before you call an automotive glass company, call your insurance agent to inquire about your coverage. If the replacement will be covered, you can provide a windshield technician with your insurance information so that a claim can be filed on your behalf.

Your Plans Don't Need To Be Altered

If you need to head to work or have other duties that need to be handled that are going to prevent you from stopping by a business that provides windshield replacements, request that a mobile technician assists you instead. A mobile technician uses the same equipment that a technician uses onsite. You will need to make an appointment beforehand if you would like a technician to come out to your location.

If you need to go to work and you won't need to travel far to get to your place of employment, you may feel safe enough to drive your truck. Let your employer know about your truck's windshield after arriving and ask them if it would be alright for a mobile technician to stop by while you are working. As long as the appointment doesn't disrupt your work duties, your boss probably won't mind that you are having the repair made during working hours.

Just let the glass technician know what type of truck you drive, including the color of the vehicle. Also, you could request that the technician calls your place of employment upon their arrival so that you can direct them to where your vehicle is parked.

Additional Problems Can Be Prevented

A windshield replacement will probably not take too long to complete. If you schedule the appointment in the morning, your vehicle may be ready to be driven when you go on your lunch break.

Prevent additional windshield problems by being careful about where you choose to park. It may not always be convenient, but taking the time to open your garage's door and parking inside of the structure will protect your vehicle from unforeseen damage. If you do not own a garage, then invest in a lightweight carport or canopy for your parking needs.

About Me

Protect Your Glass: Mobile Windshield Replacement Basics

When my windshield was broken due to a falling rock at work, I knew that I had to get it replaced immediately. I didn't want to risk getting a ticket on my way home, so I called a mobile repair service to find out what I could do. When they sent someone out right away, I was surprised. I couldn't believe they could do the work right there in the parking lot. I had to understand how all of it worked, and then I wanted to bring that knowledge to others. The next time your windshield breaks, I hope that the information here helps you to see that you don't need to drop your car off for repairs — there are companies that can come directly to you!
